A multi-institution collaboration supporting mission-aligned computer science programs at liberal arts institutions, with support from the U.S. National Science Foundation.

Quick Start Guide

MAP-CS is supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation through multiple award numbers under the NSF IUSE program. We offer NSF-supported facilitation services to help you and your faculty with curriculum review, whether through full-day on-site development retreats, online virtual cohorts, or orientation workshops. Contact us through the form linked below to get information about participating in a session or using our materials.

We are also surveying the CS education community to better understand current institutional practices for curriculum revision and faculty perceptions towards curriculum revision. Data from this survey will help us improve our resources and facilitation support.

Project abstract

Mission-aligned curriculum design for liberal arts computing

MAP-CS (Mission Aligned Programs for Computer Science) is a research-practice collaboration focused on transforming computer science curriculum design at liberal arts institutions. The project partners faculty, departments, and institutional leaders to develop and study CS programs that are deeply integrated with institutional missions, values, and local community contexts.

Through iterative design, implementation, and assessment, MAP-CS aims to develop faculty capacity for curriculum innovation and encourage CS departments to develop adaptive, effective, mission-aligned curricula that contribute significantly to the development of a broadly prepared computing workforce.
